Who's a pest? Lolly, Molly, Dolly and Polly insist it's their brother Homer. After a round of rollicking tongue twisters between Homer and a lizard, a rabbit, a chipmunk, who all agree with the female foursome, even Homer is nearly convinced. The big bear's logic in proving that everyone but Homer is a pest may be fuzzy, but who cares about logic in a riotous story like this. The text with its farcical dialogue between Homer and friends is funny enough, but the illustrations really steal the show. Crowning Homer (so that we never see above his none), is a red stretchable woolen hat with as many moods as its wearer. The quadruplets drawn to comic perfection sing-song ""nya, nya"" out of the pages. A story designed for Homer's contemporaries, who know well what it's like to be called a pest, and an I Can Read that will make him glad he learned how.
