THE INVASION OF GERMANY by Curt Riess

THE INVASION OF GERMANY

By

Publisher: Putnam

Riess believes that we cannot bomb Germany to defeat but must defeat her on her own soil, after a softening up process. He reenforces his arguments with historical data, and military strategy past and present. He analyzes the approaches by land and sea, with the Balkans his preference, and Italy of least value. He sees Leipzig as the locale for the decisive battle. He comments on the high morale continuing within Germany, on Hitler's war strength, on the political importance of the Vatican, etc. After the war, an invasion of the German mind must be effected if peace is to be assured. Riess has a dependable sale, and the title is a good come-on, the material credible enough.
