TOTAL ESPIONAGE by Curt Riess

TOTAL ESPIONAGE

By

Publisher: Putnam

This is the story of how espionage has been established and developed on a mass basis, the ""total espionage"" of Germany today and how it has been checked, or not, in other countries. The author's word for the authenticity of his sources, largely original reports. It's good reading, and tallies for the most part with other material which has appeared. Using Japan as a model, Hess was the idea-man and organizer of total espionage. Under his coordination were formed the spy schools of Himmler, Goebbels' propaganda network, Bohle's League of Germans abroad, 372,00 active spies by the start of the war. And how the Deuxieme Bureau of France slipped, England's B 4 did not -- and trapped Hess (the goods on this story), America's FBI, Russia's 5th column purges, all in all contributing to a checkmating of Hitler's spy forces by the powers today. Holding reading, and for the most part -- seems true.
