KIRKUS REVIEW

An old couple driven from their house by a tremendous snowfall find shelter in a comfortable, well-lardered one that turns out to belong to five bears. But the bears, on arriving home, mistake the hidden, sneezing old man for a terrible dragon; and when they bring their bear king home to investigate, he too is scared away by the ""dragons""--leaviug the cozy house to the contented couple. This unexceptional Russian version of a familiar folk-tale theme is told with brisk simplicity, but Cauley's unoriginal illustrations, for all their exaggerated stares and gestures, don't bring it to life. An extra.
