DEATH WALKS THE WOODS

Another delightful, leisurely, English mystery by the author of An English Murder, and again featuring the lawyer, Francis Pettigrew, from such earlier books as The Wind Blows Death. A little country town is shaken by the seemingly motiveless murder of the local woman-who-devotes-herself-to-good-causes. Suspects finally narrow down to a lady with no reputation to speak of, her solemn young son, her con-man lover, the man who sells her eggs, and the victim's landlord. But the chief joy lies not so much in sorting these out as in looking at small town life through the author's humorous eyes.
