Miss Rachel, her cat Samantha and patient Detective Lieutenant Mayhew together again for another ring around two murders, with Miss Rachel, installed in the Terric's house as cook, in order to observe rumors of werewolves, of the mixed-up family relationship, of financial peculiarities, and so on. That she outsmarts and out-thinks Mayhew and indicates the double-killer is foregone conclusion in this series. Generally accepted spinster sleuthing. But not our favorite spinster.
