ARTHRITIS AND FOLK MEDICINE by D. C. Jarvis

ARTHRITIS AND FOLK MEDICINE

By

Publisher: Holt, Rinehart & Winston

Remembering-- who's to forget- the success achieved by two of unorganized medicine's spokesmen with first Arthritis and Common Sense and later Jarvis' own Folk Medicine it would seem that this new book, even though it's really more of his old book, is an unbeatable combination. Arthritis, which is what Vermonters call rheumatism (and includes gout, bursitis, etc.) is also what Jervis calls one of the energy diseases, and what we call tension diseases (grouped here with colitis, ulcers, fatigue, etc.)) In any case, he has turned back to Vermont folk medicine and the fundamentals of nature to treat- and cure-what has generally been pretty resistant, and after a good deal of observation and experimentation with cows, with acidity reactions, etc. has seen the beneficial effects of biologic food selection in general and apple cider vinegar, honey, Lugol's solution of iodine and kelp in particular. Readers of the earlier book will remember this regimen which is the same as Jarvis prescribes for all general (non-bacterial) ailments, and will go on using it. A closing remark that those who eat honey and keep bees do not get cancer seems a likely prognosis for a third book. The medical profession may question- but who are we to argue.
