THE ROCK-HUNTER'S FIELD MANUAL

Pub Date: Feb. 18th, 1959
Publisher: Harper

For the collector (not the prospector) a hobby that is increasing in interest has its handbook. There is some basic information about equipment, about where to search for specimens, about the types of rocks and rock formations, about the chemistry of the minerals they contain and their uses, but most of the book consists of a color key system under which the minerals are arranged alphabetically- by color. Each one is further identified by luster, streak, hardness, cleavage and crystals for ready identification. For those who would ""take to the hills"" more profitably, old and young.
