RETURN FROM LUNA

Rob Stevens is wildly excited over being chosen as Professor Munson's assistant at the American moon base. But he's a bit disappointed to discover that the base is really a parasite depending on regular shuttle supply runs from earth for the necessary hydrogen, oxygen and food. Then, abruptly, the base is cut off as nuclear war breaks out on earth and this becomes the story of day-to-day survival as the colonists try to tap energy from the sun to convert rocks into air and water. . . and Rob even attempts a lunar garden by ""earthshine."" Mutiny breaks out when some of the men want to take over the Russian moon base, Professor Munson breaks down, there are some tragic deaths and, of course, the traumatic experience of not knowing what's going on down below. Although not totally persuasive, competent enough.
