KIRKUS REVIEW

This correspondence almost a decade long, between a growing girl and an elderly clergyman is a delight both to the mind as well as the heart. An increasingly articulate and observant, apt Emmie, a Victorian girl was a note-taking child and not a prissy young miss. Outspoken in opinions and comments- as the Reverend Whitewell Elwin encourages and instructs, the letters offer a special pleasure.
