DOCE CUENTOS DE ANIMALES: ""Twelve Animal Stories

Damits Duenda (who translated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for the small Disney fans South of the border) has struck a new note in Latin American juveniles with these animal stories. Six of them are her own, the rest are her simple version of Samaniago, the Spanish Aesop. There is good variety in these tales of the elephant's bet with the tiger, the London firedog's heroic rescue of a doll, the doings of monkeys and rabbits and roosters. Peter Mario's black and white illustrations, though not too well reproduced, add charm and humor.
