The Science Fiction Writers of America have established their own award and this first collection of Nebula winners is remarkable for its diversity and taste. Of the eight, J.G. Ballard's The Drowned Giant is outstanding--a Kafkaish nightmare, a disturbing comment on civilization. The others range from the beautifully intricate psychological happenings of Roger Zolazny's He Who Sleeps to the short tragi-comic seriousness of Gordon R. Dickson's Computers Don't Agree. Other winners and runnerups are Harlan Ellison, James H. Schmitz, Larry Niven and Brian W. Aldiss.
