ORBIT 15

The latest issue of this periodic anthology offers Lafferty at his wackily provocative best on the subject of a year that got left out of the calendar; Wilhelm, with a commemorative story of a dying earth whose last hope is a tribe of super-, or maybe in-, human clones; Michael Bishop's clever poem from the viewpoint of a Lilliputian after Gulliver's departure; Lowell K. Smith's promising debut with a humane glimpse of a future hospital offering computerized T.L.C.; plus Aldiss, Piserchia, Wolfe, Effinger and Eleanor Arnason. A couple of clinkers, but Knight remains one of the most consistently discerning editors in the field.
