PICTURE TALES FROM MEXICO

By

Publisher: Stokes

Another volume in a well -- loved series, uniform in format, and following the same sort of pattern in content. The stories are largely of the folk and fable type, with the majority dealing with animal fables, and with Senor Coyote playing an essential character in many of them. Trickery plays an important part in his success in life but he gets what's coming to him now and again. Occasional interpolations on the part of the author explains Mexican and Spanish and Indian customs. I could have wished this has been done as a footnote to the story teller (or reader) rather than being made part of the text, but that is a matter of opinion.
