Companion to previously published Snow Goose. The Pool, in its uplift and sentiment. A West Virginia preacher -- Dr. Angel -- confronted by the question put to him by a couple who have lost their boy in the war, preaches a parable which, if it does not give the ultimate answer does give them courage to live with their problem. When they asked why their boy had to be killed to keep God's world in order, Dr. Angel tells of God's walk with them, and the turn of the conversation as God is unable to satisfy their searching, commending to them only the bond of love, as one parent to another. Printed in the S.E.P., this caused many letters, has been used as a sermon, and has a gentle comfort to offer.
