A PREACHER LOOKS AT WAR

By

Publisher: Macmillan

A brilliant book expressing breadth of vision with regard to world affairs and the relation of faith and our religious heritage to the demands of a changing world. This is the answer to those who believe there should be a boundary line between spirituality and affairs of the world today. Part I contains the author's statement of his position in regard to the war; the balance traces the steps by which he reached his conclusions (these appeared as editorials in the Christian Herald). Dr. Poling believes that neither war nor peace can be isolated and that victory without hate is the sole key to peace without bitterness. Twenty years ago he saw the writing on the wall. He sees today in the Atlantic Charter the first blueprint of a new international system, the supreme opportunity for leaders throughout the world to reach across racial and religious fronts to promote unity among all mankind. This can be achieved only if Christian leaders will acknowledge economic and political factors which will confront the postwar world and proclaim truth without prejudice.
