THE RAPIST by Daniel Forbes

THE RAPIST

This takes place in Dungoole, County Cork, Ireland where if ""confusion is good for the soul,"" God knows how you can clear your head. In other words, it's a little like Joyce Porter, a jokey item, thick in the tongue, that heads ""into the bleeding affray"" after a rapist has his way with a nice, Liberated American girl and then goes on to a succession of others. Supt. Keane does his best; a socio-psychologist contributes theory; the citizens take up protective gymnastics like the ""cross buttocks"" and on, and on. A nice line here and there but when Irish eyes are smiling they sure do it out loud.
