The first part of the book follows the lines of conventional autobiography. The last half is almost wholly anecdotal and reminiscential bits about actors and actresses, producers and playwrights, people of the stage whom he knew and others whose place in theatrical history warrants their inclusion. Throughout one gets glimpses of the man and his associates. Interesting for those who want to see the glamorous side of stage life -- but lacks the spice and sparkle and humanity of such a book as The Curtain Falls by J. V. Reed.
