This is a good translation of the author's ""Legende Doree de Mes Filleuls"", which contains ""a kind of portrait gallery of admirable young people--child saints, boys and girls who practiced exceptional virtues from very early age, still others who played some part in certain important episodes of Christian history."" In imitation of the famous medieval ""Golden Legend"", the author here recounts beautifully and lucidly the stories, made up of facts and legend, of 15 child saints, Saints Mercellus, Mark, Paul, Agnes, Blandina, Frumentius and Aedesius, Genevieve, Brendan, Odilia, Louis, Joan of Arc, Aloysius Gonzaga, Bernadette of Lourdes, the Martyrs of Uganda and Dominic Savio. Different countries and different times are represented. The volume closes with a sermonette on childhood sanctity. The treatment is of the very high caliber readers have become accustomed to expect from this French Academician.
