KIRKUS REVIEW

This is an undeniable contribution in a practically untouched field for it required endless searching in many source books to find most of the whys and where-fores so succinctly collected in this one compact volume. Here is the world into which Christ came -- its tradition, faith, hopes and prejudices. The political, racial and religious trends are arranged for the clergyman or layman who would better understand the Jewish and Hellenistic background of Christianity. I was frankly fascinated.
