HELP! THIS ANIMAL IS DRIVING ME CRAZY

One of the five practicing animal psychologists in the country, Dr. Tortora has observed some highly neurotic dogs, and his text offers Solutions to Your Dog's Behavior Problems--and not just the old chase-the-mailman routine. Like Dr. Tanzer in Your Pet Isn't Sick (p. 338), he knows that most symptoms can be traced to the rewards--inadvertent or recognized--that a family bestows on its four-footed friend. But while Tanzer is playful as a puppy, Tortora is dead serious, recommending umpteen steps for each modification of behavior and tossing around phrases like consummatory components, response deficits, and organismic variables. He acknowledges that reprogramming a pet is tedious work and few dogs--like their ""masters""--have only one problem. Too much text except for those conditioned to experimental psychology techniques.
