Though the characters here are bears, this is basically a realistic story. Sam likes to frighten people with loud noises, which amuses him more than them; but after he frightens Molly at day-care by shouting ""Boo,"" Sam laughs so loud that he gets the hiccups--a bad case that makes him first the center of attention, then apprehensive lest Molly reciprocate. Sure enough, she finally does--in away that's not funny to Sam, though he does lose his hiccups; meanwhile, Molly laughs so hard that now she has them. Goldman's illustrations, while unassuming, include many amusing details. Sure to be a hit at the day-care center.
