KIRKUS REVIEW

A companion volume to Zimmerman's The Los Angeles Dodgers (page 212) gives a quick rundown of the happy heroes of the American League who won their first pennant since 1919. Along with a history of the ball club, there's a roster of their management and a score card on their greatest players- Nellie Fox, Billy Pierce, Aparicio and Jim Landis, Early Wynn, as well as particular emphasis on the last season -- and a shorter resume of the ruinous series. It's an adequate job by the Chicago Tribune's sports columnist for local admirers who are said to be adamantine adherents.
