LOUIS ROTH by Dave Robeson

Biography of an animal trainer and tamer, in line with Mabel Stark's Hold That Tiger and Clyde Beatty's The Pig Cage, both of whom studied under Roth. Roth left Hungary at 12 and landed a job here as cage boy on an animal farm. He gained in proficiency and became top man in the field. New animal tricks and combinations -- tigers, lions, pumas, leopards and polar bears in the ring, with accidents and escapes from time to time, but with understanding and wisdom in dealing with the animals throughout. A hazardous life, which might have been more dramatic in the telling.
