ather O'Brien's parish is Las Vegas, Nevada, with ""unique"" problems; what might consider a morally mangy flock consists of gamblers, musicians and chorus . His efforts to help them are told in a very secular vernacular as he, with four Sisters whom he also recruits from the Bishop, gently meddles in the misguided of Deirdre, who is pregnant, and the recalcitrant musician who doesn't want marry her; Margot who is charged with hustling; Jean, who is on junk, and her husband who is another kind of addict-he's a card-head, etc., etc. No doves- no luebirds of happiness- just a practical intercession on the part of a quiet man of good faith. Cheerful.
