...and a cat and an elderly lady are the components of this frail little episode of horsing around. The squirrel liked to look and listen while the lady dusted the harp strings and the cat, Luke, leaped playfully for the duster. The lady left the house, and while the mistress is away, the cat and the squirrel will play. The squirrel broke and entered, was distracted by a bowl of hazel nuts, started a game of chase with Luke by running through the harp strings and knocking down most of the furniture in the house, and it finally took the police to stop their riot. It's a hyperactive romp for the two animals, but for readers it all just seems incidental.
