Sets a good masculine pace and holds right to it, as rough roustabout Whit, C. P. A. (of Death and Taxes) takes on another extra-curricular job as he undertakes to find out just why a wealthy sheep dealer's son is spending big money. The shearing of a lamb by two sets of poker sharps, and his murder which Whit fails to forestall, and in sleuthing which exceeds the bounds of the game to sex and revenge.
