THIS IS WAR:

Read the text -- and you'll feel that no photographs are needed. Look at the photographs and the text seems extraneous. An unusual combination of talents for this photographer to possess to such an unusual degree. One can turn the pages of photographs and feel that a motion picture of war in all its gruesome, human, grim and occasionally humorous details passes before one. Introductory material relating his own summation of the march of war from June 25th through August, and three specific phases,- The Hill, The City and the final section (and the best of all) ""Retreat, Hell!"" record in text followed by photographs, the grim reality.
