THE COMPLETE BOOK OF TWENTIETH CENTURY MUSIC by David Ewen

THE COMPLETE BOOK OF TWENTIETH CENTURY MUSIC

By

Publisher: Prentice-Hall

The complete book of twentieth century composers"" might be a more apt- and accurate- title for this book, for while all the composers of note are represented here- there is only a partial selection of their music. From Isaac Albeniz to Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari, the author gives a brief history of the composer's life, affecting influences, and work- and then goes on to give the history or source of his most typical or best works, in a descriptive rather than analytical survey. A good overall of the period, but not for serious study of a single work. Music lovers will find it helpful to fill in their knowledge and further their range of listening.
