A matter of fact, modest and inherently dramatic account of an isolated incident in the pacific war, the escape, after the fall of the Philippines, of eighteen men in a 30 foot boat through Jap infected waters. Led by John Morrill, these men formerly on the Quail minesweeper), took to the gasoline boat after the abandonment of Corregidor and the scuttling of their battered ship. They write of days hiding out among friendly Filipinos among the inlands and up the goast, nights attempting to get away towards Australia, dodging jap ships and red balls on the lookout for escaping craft, they eventually reached the Australian coast and freedom. Not important, perhaps, but another personal record of tough action and quick thinking.
