KIRKUS REVIEW

David Lawrence has a nationwide following. More times than not he ""calls the tune""; at other times he is lamentably wrong, and frequently lets a personal bias (against Labor, the Administration, etc.) color his comments. But to those who like his column, his word is the last word. For them, this book is a natural. For the rest of the public, I question whether there could be sufficient interest in the day by day thoughts of a Washington correspondent on happenings from May 1940 to May 1942. Thoughts pertaining to the USA in world affairs, often over critical, at other times constructive and challenging. Market? Your Democrats of the ultra-conservative old school.
