LONDON: The Dog Who Made the Team

During the period when the former Chicago White Sox pitcher Chuck Eisenmann recovered from an army injury, he acquired a German Shepherd puppy and established a highly developed rapport with him -the dog was extraordinarily intelligent. Returning to the minors, Chuck took London with him, had a clause in his contract permitting the dog to travel with the team (i.e. the title) and there are some scrappy anecdotes of London's performance on the field (he caused a rhubarb; could run the bases) before he went on to television and films.... unfortunately to a book too- or rather a non-book.
