KIRKUS REVIEW

City dog becomes country dog and likes it in this story which is actually a loosely linked chain of events. Although a likable German Shepherd, Acey is only a sometimes dog; unfortunately, the author has forced words and often human thoughts where barks and growls might well be expected. A comradeship of boy and dog will evoke identification, but the dog's sudden miraculous heroism is too extreme, too unrealistic; the reader is not prepared.
