ON THE WING

The author of When Ships Go Down and S O S has used the same breezy method in recounting the tales of aviation and its heroes, some few historical, the greater part more or less current. Through these stories of great men -- and a few women -- we get the development of aviation, through planes, balloons, Zeppelins, bombers, and so on. But chiefly it is the story of the men who brought this into being, men of all nations, but primarily Britishers.
