KIRKUS REVIEW

A sober note form the expert collector and author of humorous verse (A Pocketbook of Humorous Verse) this presents familiar topics in unencumbered style. There are trees, tides, fields, spring, fishing, the country and the city, some war poems, Christmas, etc., in comfortable rhythms and uncomplicated expression. There are some touches of gentle humor, but the whole has a much more mature attitude than his previous writing, and is a safe sort of poetry for a conservative market, which does not wish to be scorched by the fire of new voices.
