KIRKUS REVIEW

Pig Pig, irresistible star of Pig Pig Grows Up, etc., is back in another story filled with merry chaos. While Pig Pig waits to have his picture taken, he looks at the photographs in an album and practices saying ""cheese."" Magically, he is trans. ported to the scene of the picture. When things get out of control, Pig Pig flips to a different photo and says ""cheese"" again, throwing him into yet another tricky situation. Each succeeding ""cheese"" puts him into a more difficult spot than the one before, until it looks as if he might be a goner; but this time the magic word brings him safely home. Back before the camera, he smiles, but won't say ""cheese."" The cumulative adventure is a time-tested favorite of kindergarteners, and with his bright fluid watercolors combined with a sketchy black line and crosshatching, McPhail has a talent for combining attractive illustrations and a bouncy story, although this one is wearing thin.
