A collection of poems by David Morton who is familiar to all readers of lyric verse in Harper's, the N.Y. Times, etc. His occasional poems often give delight -- but -- gathered together --carry less weight and conviction than when they appear singly. Mr. Morton is, if not an occasional poet in the technical sense, at least a lyricist of the passing moment, the fleeting mood. A certain love of beauty and romanticism fills all his work, but there is no underlying thought or philosophy to bind the volume together. Still there are many charming individual poems and the book may have a reasonably wide if not too discriminating public.
