Up another Colorado crick (Sheepshank, Colorado--1889) with young Eli, livery hand, at the time that thirty thousand dollars worth of gold bullion is stolen from the Cherry Mine--""illegal coinpicking."" Eli lends himself out as ""prentice"" to the Indian Tracker Byrd, and together they join the ""posseying"" for the culprits when two innocent men are killed.
