LOWER DECK

Questionable market for this log of an English destroyer -- the Skye -- which reflects in the language of her crew (and there's some pretty rummy Cockney here) life aboard her. Random conversations and incidents -- the firing of a fish, patrols by night and day, attack by part of the Italian flet convoying from Malta, shore leaves, transport duty, and finally the sinking and the break-up of the united ship's company. There is incontrovertible slackening of interest in war experiences, unless outstanding -- and the added barrier of the very British lingo of the sea and the sense of repeat of material makes it unlikely that this will override that hurdle.
