KIRKUS REVIEW

Regions in the news on which very little has been done for boys and girls. An attractive addition to this excellent series, with delightful pictures and decorative drawings by R. Busoni Historical background tracing this Oriental melting pot from the days of the spice trade to the wealth in tin:- geography, physical aspects, products: Java, Ball, Celebes, Borneo, New Guinea, etc. -- the people, the markets, the life. Then the Philippines and their peoples, hill tribes and city dwellers. Good background material, attractively presented, though too sketchy to be anything but an introduction to further study. Good school and library market.
