WINNING STREAK

In the third of eight projected ""Angel Park All Stars"" books about a trio of rookie Little Leaguers, Kenny falls into a slump and his teammate Jacob plies him with ways to change his luck: a rabbit's foot, rally caps, new pre-game routines, etc. The whole team thinks Jacob's off his rocker; still, the slump spreads until the Angel Park Dodgers take their first loss. Jacob's superstitious suggestions are rejected in favor of practice and fundamentals; but in the crunch he does manage to trick Kenny into relaxing at the plate--after which the Dodgers wipe out the Paseo A's, ten-zip. There's plenty of game action and sound baseball technique in this coherent, uncomplicated story. A detailed b&w drawing heads each chapter.
