NEW BIG SISTER

There must be almost as many new-baby books as there are new babies, but, still, Gliori's picture-book debut is a nice one- -slightly British in flavor, with a warm sense of family, an appealing narrator (see title), a good selection of events in the months before the birth, and a novel conclusion: it's twins. The illustrations are cozy, sympathetic, and full of pleasing detail. A fine addition. (Picture book. 3-8)
