SOMERHAZE FARM

Virginia born Mary Lee Wade, at fifteen, is just beginning to feel the strength of her prettiness and resents her Professor father's decision to rurt their stay in sophisticated London and to station the family on a Somerset farm. But the beauty of the English countryside, the warm friendship she forms with two Somerset teen-agers, and the lure of a traditional ghost which is said to haunt the farm, soon makes her forget her discontent. The ghost, a benevolent, practical lady, plays her good natured part in contributing to the excitement of the season, and Mary Lee leaves Somerhaze with a new understanding of her own tradition, a tradition largely allied to that of her Somerset farm. Despite its apparitions, the story of Somerhaze unfolds placidly conveying a pleasant picture of English county life and a discreet appreciation of the feminine teen-ager's mentality.
