Story of white injustice to the American Indians, covering much the same period as Wilder's Bright Feather (an adult book --see P. 219)- a subject that is highlighted in the news today with the unhappy picture of the Navaho tribes and the Alaskan Indians. The setting is Florida when Tallahassee was being built and the Seminole tribes had reluctantly signed a treaty which our government was barely able to enforce. Two white boys, settled on what had been Indian land, have to unlearn their convictions regarding bad Indians, and discover for themselves some of the problems of the Seminoles. Unhurried and careful attempt to throw light on an important part of our history.
