THE HIDDEN BURRO

Sequel to The Burro of Barnegat Road, and more about Dorothy and Wally, and Chula, the burro, who lives with their grandparents in Connecticut, where they usually spend their summers. But this year, the grandparents are going away, and the children have to stay in Washington. Chula is shipped down to them and arrives while their parents are away, and most of the story is concerned with their efforts to keep Chula's presence a secret. They hide her in the basement of their father's secretary's house, and Miss Pringle, who gets nervous about practically anything, is naturally a laughgetter. The Washington Monument adventure is good fun, too, and the story mounts to a climax when Chula, en route to the farm where it is decreed she's to stay for the summer, balks and holds up the big parade in honor of her countryman, President of Mexico.
