HALF A HEMISPHERE: The Story of Latin America

A history of Central and South America which is adequate for a quick general picture from the time of the Conquistadors to the present, but is not the ideal book for closer study or reference work. There is a bewildering succession of names, especially in the opening chapters, the chronology is frequently confused, and what details are given to add a little color are generally irrelevant and unimportant. Black and white drawings, throughout the text, by Charlotte Anna Chase, do not help much; maps taken from Foreign Policy Association publications are good.
