Los Angeles' Homicide Lt. Luis Rodolfo Vincente Mendoza, estranged from his Alison Weir, is forced to admit that a multiple rape-murder situation has been the cause of an innocent man's death. With Sgt. Hacket suffering alongside, Mendoza keeps weeding out, is unable to connect with one of his famous hunches, and --with a click -- things fall into place so that he can save Alison and recover his aplomb.
