COUNTRY SCHOOLMA'AM

This should catch two markets:- first, those who loved A Country Kitchen and Home Grown and who will rejoice in this third of the trilogy of youth in Michigan of the '80's; second, the greatly expanded market for Country Lawyer, Country Editor, etc. What a revealing picture of the educational background of rural America, when a girl of sixteen, with very spotty educational training, could get a job teaching rural school. Fortunately, a sense of humor, a zest for teaching and a deeply rooted social sense made up for lacks in arithmetic and inexperience in handling youngsters, some of them older than herself. It is an original and entertaining tale, spiced with Della Lutes' sense of life lived to the full. Good Americana.
