The point of these profiles is to present these many geniuses ""as human beings"" -- and as such these great lives in brief offer a number of salient facts. Since there is no attempt at either criticism or evaluation, the book is not for the student or the professional musician. It can only supply a need as a handy reference guide- giving as it does the main dates and compositions of these 46 composers in chronological order and at a non-highbrow level.
