THE SCARLET IMFOSTOR

Plus sale for this in mystery, adventure section, though the story is more fully developed than the average of its ilk. International spy story, with all the ingredients blended with high flavor. An Englishman, eager to serve his country, sets out to run down facts and names connected with the anti-Nazi activities inside the country. He goes from one hairbreath adventure to a worse one; death stalks his path, as each fresh contact is cut off, too soon; he muffs it more often than not, and across the checkered path beckons romance and mystery. Good melodrama, but less adroit than some in Wheatley's record. The scene shifts from England to Germany to Holland, France, and England again. Philosophical passages trite.
